Message icons on X - Inboxapp

Red icons can appear on encrypted X messages sent around a change in X’s encryption. Your messages stay visible in Inboxapp either way.

Undelivered

A red undelivered icon marks an older encrypted message that may not have reached the recipient. No action is needed. New messages send normally. If you didn’t use XChat before 21 Jan 2026, you’re not affected.

Failed to send

A red failed to send icon means X didn’t accept that message for delivery. The conversation may also show a red dot.

Message type	What to do
Manual message	Resend to deliver it again (the failed copy is removed), or Delete it
Campaign message	Nothing — Inboxapp reschedules it automatically

If the other person already replied, they received your messages.
