# Tags and custom fields

> Create tags and custom fields to organize leads, then filter and segment with them.

Use tags and custom fields to organize leads beyond the defaults.

## Tags

1. Go to **Settings → Tags**.
2. Create, edit, or delete tags.
3. Assign colors if you want quick visual cues.

Common uses: source, priority, interest, client, or campaign cohort. You can apply tags to prospects and conversations.

## Custom fields

1. Go to **Settings** (custom fields section for your workspace).
2. Add fields you need — for example Lead Source or Interest Level.
3. Fill those fields on leads as you work.

Pipeline **statuses** are configured under **Settings → Statuses** — [Add statuses to the pipeline](/help/account/how-to-add-statuses-to-the-pipeline).

## Filtering and segmentation

With tags and fields in place you can:

* Segment lists by interest, engagement, role, or industry
* Filter exports by date, status, tag, source, or custom field — [Export leads](/help/leads-management/organize/exporting-leads-from-inboxapp)
* Search the prospecting database with filters such as **Bio → Contains** (database profiles only)

More detail: [Filtering and segmenting leads](/help/leads-management/organize/filtering-and-segmenting-your-leads).
