# How Inboxapp syncs your DMs

> What to expect after you install the Chrome extension and link X — sync speed, Contacted/Mutual timing, and tips.

After you install the Chrome extension and link X, Inboxapp syncs your DMs in the background.

## 1. Install the extension and link X

Install the Inboxapp Chrome extension, then link your X account. Details: [Add an X account to Inboxapp](/help/account/how-to-add-an-x-twitter-account-to-inboxapp).

## 2. Sync timing

* **Small inboxes** (under \~100 contacts) usually sync quickly.
* **Larger inboxes** can take a few hours.

## 3. Use Inboxapp while syncing

You can read, reply, and organize messages while sync continues.

## 4. Contacted and Mutual lists

**Contacted** and **Mutual** system lists are not ready until the full sync finishes. They load last. See [System lists](/help/leads-management/concepts/understanding-system-lists).

## Tips

* You can close the browser; sync continues in the cloud.
* You can keep using Inboxapp during sync.
