# How Inboxapp syncs your X and LinkedIn DMs

> What happens after you link an account: your X and LinkedIn DMs, including XChat, sync in the background and build your contact list.

After you [link an account](/help/get-started/link-accounts), Inboxapp syncs your DMs in the background. It works the same way on every platform, and Inboxapp handles the details for you.

* **Keep working.** You can read, reply, and organize conversations while sync runs.
* **Close the browser if you like.** Sync continues in the cloud.
* **XChat included.** Encrypted XChat conversations on X sync too. See [XChat and your PIN](/help/platforms/x/xchat).
* **Your contacts, built for you.** Everyone you've talked to shows up in the **Contacts** tab, ready to tag and track.
* **Big inboxes take longer.** Larger inboxes can take a few hours to sync fully.
